In a departure from one-time funding support for high-performing startups, KODIT runs combined supporting programs that provide systematic financial assistance tailored to individual startups’ growth stages, including guarantees, insurance, investment, and consulting as well as non-financial assistance.
To systematically nurture startups, KODIT operates a guarantee program tailored to growth stage. The “Promising Startups Growth Support Program” consists of 4 credit guarantee programs - “Guarantee for Pre-Stage Startup”, “Guarantee for New Startup”, “Guarantee for Early Stage Startup”, and “Guarantee for Growth Stage Startup”. In 2024, KODIT provided an estimated amount of USD 2.6 billion under this program.
To support the growth of startups with innovative ideas and technological capabilities, KODIT offers integrated guarantee programs tailored to each stage of a startup’s growth, while also incorporating the unique characteristics of individual enterprises and aligning with government policy priorities.
KODIT has established a full-cyle support system that enables innovative startups to access appropriate guarantee products from the early stage to scale-up stage.
KODIT operates guarantee programs tailored to the characteristics of each stage of investment, thereby providing financing support that reflects the scale and specific needs of startups at different phases of their growth. Through these programs, KODIT supplies venture capital to innovative startups with strong growth potential and technological competitiveness, enabling them to overcome the so-called “valley of death” and secure follow-on investment.
KODIT has also developed a range of guarantee programs by enterprise characteristics, reflecting government priority policies such as fostering strategic high-tech industries and nurturing young entrepreneurs, as well as the distinct features of global and born-global startups. These programs are further complemented by guarantee schemes by investment stage, thereby providing startups with comprehensive and integrated support throughout their growth journey.
To replace one-off financial support with a package of continued support aimed at nurturing startups, KODIT set up a startup nurturing platform named, “Start-up NEST”.
It is a one-stop startup support system comprised of accelerating, financial support, and growth support and focuses on fostering startups to help them reach a specific growth stage with the help of KODIT’s financial and non-financial services such as credit guarantee, investment, consulting, mentoring, technical advisory and physical office space.
Until 2024, KODIT handpicked 1,360 NEST enterprises and provided USD 255 million in credit guarantees and USD 38 million in direct investment.
